Description and Objective

Derby is a virtual horse racing game, offering the excitement of top quality horse racing without leaving the comfort of home.

The game simulates a racing track meeting during which eight races take place. Eight horses participate in each race. You can bet on a certain race outcome or on a combination of race outcomes. You can also accumulate bets across any of the races in a particular meeting. The form gives you an accurate representation of how well a horse is likely to do in a race, with the odds calculated accordingly. The game offers a variety of bets from the straightforward single to the high payout trebles, trixies, etc.

At the beginning of each race, the horses are placed at the start of the racing track and start running at the signal. Jockeys guide horses to the finish line. Jockeys wear special jackets with colors that coincide with the colors of horsecloths. The numbers of the horses are printed on the horsecloths. These colors and numbers are used to identify a horse during the race, as well as for referring to it in the race card and result screen.

High-quality graphics and realistic sound make the race highly enjoyable to watch. During the race animation the behavior of real horses is simulated. A wide range of bets and "raisins" like photo finish images make this game a truly unbelievable experience.

How to Play

The game offers a meeting of 8 races with the option of on-demand viewing of your races. Click on the number tabs to the left of the screen to view the information about the runners in each of the races. Aadditional horse information appears on the right side of the screen. You may start your meeting at any race you wish or choose to bet on selected races only. You may also choose a new meeting by clicking on the SKIP ALL RACES button.

Placing Bets

Before you start racing you should place your bets. To place bets on a single race, select the desired race using the numbered buttons on the left hand side, and then select the horses you wish to bet on by clicking on their names in the list.
Once you have made your selections, choose the bet types under the Add Bets tab on the right hand side of the screen. Set your stake either by using the '+' and '-' buttons near the stake box or by entering it manually. Then click on the SUBMIT button. View the Bet Slip tab on the right to make sure that the stakes have been defined correctly.

To place multiple bets, switch to the Multiple Bets tab on the left side of the screen. You will see all 8 races with all the horses running in them. Make your choice by clicking on the horses names, and they will appear in the Add Bets tab on the right hand side of the screen. For the bet types available see Bet Types. Set the stake amount and click the SUBMIT button.

To remove a bet, click on the X button next to the column Stake. Alternatively, select the Bet Slip tab on the right, choose the bet you wish to remove by using the checkboxes provided and click on the REMOVE SELECTED BETS button below.

Starting the Race

Once bets are made and stake amounts defined, you may start the race by clicking on the START RACE X button. Enjoy the view! If you want to know the result at once without watching the race process, click on the Skip Race button.

Game Result

Each race finish is determined by the photo finish camera. Three photo finish cards are presented at the end of each race and display which horse has taken first, second and third position. By default, the first place card is displayed. The other two cards are displayed behind this one. To bring another card forward, click on the desired card or a card number on the lower control toolbar.

In the bottom left corner of the screen, above the bet card, race results for the selected bets are displayed. The bet card displays bet results for the current race. The win amount for winning bets is also displayed. These bets are marked in green, while lost bets are marked in red.

To continue the game, click on Continue in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Bet Types

Single Bet
A single or straight bet is a bet on the outcome that the selected horse will win the race. All these bets are separate and independent. A punter may place bets on the outcome of each race. This is done by choosing competing horses in the appropriate race cards.

Race Bets

Bet Type	Description
Single	A Single is one bet on one selection (horse). You win if the selection is successful.
Forecast	A Forecast is a bet not just on which horse will win, but on which horse will come second as well. This bet can be of two types: Straight forecast and Reverse forecast. The Straight forecast (SFC) indicates that the selected horses should finish the race in the order named. Selecting the Reverse forecast (RFC option) means that the horses can take first and second position in either order.
Forecast Combination	Covers three or more selections in one race, with any two horses to finish first and second in any order. The unit stake will be multiplied by the number of possible combinations to give the total stake for this bet. If three horses are selected, for instance, this will be a total of six bets.
Tricast	A tricast bet is the same as a forecast bet, except that bets are placed on the order of the first three horses and not the first two. Consequently at least three horses have to be selected and must finish in the specified order for the bet to win.
Tricast Combination	Covers three or more selections in one race with any three horses to finish first, second and third. The unit stake will be multiplied by the number of possible combinations to give the total stake for this bet.

Multiple Bets

Bet Type	Description
Single	A Single is one bet on one selection (horse).
Double	This bet covers 2 selections in different races. You win if both selections are successful.
Treble	This bet covers 3 selections in different races. You win if all three selections are successful.
Accumulator	This bet covers 4 or more selections in different races. The bet has different types defined as 4F, 5F, 6F and so on. Accumulator (4F) is an abbreviation of 4-fold accumulator, or a bet with 4 selections.
Patent	This is a full-cover multiple bet. It consists of 3 selections and is made up of 3 singles, 3 doubles and 1 treble. With this bet only one selection has to win for you to receive a return.
Trixie	This is a full-cover multiple bet made up of three selections in different races. It consists of 3 doubles and 1 treble. A minimum of two selections have to win for you to receive a return.
Yankee	This is a full-cover multiple bet made up of 4 selections in different races. A Yankee is made up of 11 bets - 6 doubles, 4 trebles and 1 accumulator. A minimum of two selections have to win for you to receive a return.
Super Yankee	This is a full-cover multiple bet made up of 5 selections in different races. A Super Yankee is made up of 26 bets - 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 accumulator fourfolds and 1 accumulator fivefold. A minimum of two selections have to win for you to receive a return.
Heinz	This is a full-cover multiple bet with 6 selections in different races. A Heinz has 57 bets - 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 accumulator fourfolds, 6 fivefolds and 1 sixfold. A minimum of two selections have to win for you to receive a return.
Super Heinz	A full-cover multiple bet, this time with 7 selections in different races. A Super Heinz has 120 bets - 21 doubles, 35 trebles, 35 accumulator fourfolds, 21 fivefolds, 7 sixfolds and 1 sevenfold. A minimum of two selections have to win for you to receive a return.
Goliath	A full-cover multiple bet with one selection in each of the 8 races. A Goliath is made up of 247 bets - 28 doubles, 56 trebles, 70 accumulator fourfolds, 56 fivefolds, 28 sixfolds, 8 sevenfolds and 1 eightfold. A minimum of two selections have to win for you to receive a return.
Lucky 15	A full-cover multiple bet with 4 selections from 4 different events. A Lucky 15 has 15 bets - 4 singles, 6 doubles, 4 trebles, and one fourfold. A minimum of one selection has to win for you to receive a return.
Lucky 31	A full-cover multiple bet with 5 selections from 5 different events. A Lucky 31 has 31 bets - 5 singles, 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 fourfolds and one fivefold. A minimum of one selection has to win for you to receive a return.
Lucky 63	A full-cover multiple bet with 6 selections from 6 different events. A Lucky 63 has 63 bets - 6 singles, 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 fourfolds, 6 fivefolds and one sixfold. A minimum of one selection has to win for you to receive a return.
